Disassembling the doll

Requires: The Doll you will be reborning, Wire cutters, Craft knife

Before starting, you will need to disassemble the dolls limbs. In most cases, if you remove the clothing you will see they are held together with a cable tie at on the cloth body. Simply cut these off and slide the limbs out. You can throw away the cloth body or save it for another doll if you wish.

In other dolls, you may need to be a bit more forceful and use a flathead screwdriver to pry them out. Also, If you have a reborn doll kit instead they usually come disassembled already so you won’t need to do this.

Once you have done this you should be left with the following pieces, all separated; 2 legs, 2 arms, and the head. Add to this your cloth body and you are ready to proceed.

Once all of the limbs have been removed, you need to check if the arms and leg pieces have wide enough holes on them. Some limbs come covered up with only a small air hole into them.

If yours are like this, then take your craft knife and cut into limb from the small hole on the top. Start by cutting a circle out making sure you don’t go to far to the sides; the hole should be big enough for you to stuff later on with pellets, but not to ruin the limb. Leave a minimum of a quarter of an inch.

The head support rod (looks like a very long neck) should be removable – take this out, and remove and stuffing that is inside the head. It may have ground vinyl, polyfill or anything else as a weight which you can discard as it is not needed. Remove the same from the other limbs as required.
