Avoiding bruising effects; Do not use a purple wash

I have received a few queries recently about some peoples recommendations of using a purple wash when making a reborn doll. To anyone that doesnt know, the purple wash is applying purple dye to the inside of the dolls limbs, in order to give it extra depth.

However, this causes serious problems. Inevitably, the wash leaks through the vinyl and ends up leaving the doll looking bruised and off color, eventually ruining the entire doll.

This is one of the earlier recommendations for how to reborn a doll, and it is still used by a lot of artists today. However, I would strongly suggest you do not apply a purple wash to your dolls. If you are looking to buy a doll that will last, then you might want to consider checking if the artist has used this to make their dolls or not too.
