Reborn Doll Paints

There are many different paints you can use to add color to your reborn. This guide will use the rather excellent Genesis Heat set paints, as detailed below.

You can however use stencil creams, oils or any other coloring medium that you want too. You can get ready mixed tones in the genesis collection if you are feeling adventurous.

Some other supplies you will need

Apart from the doll supplies  already listed, you will also need some other supplies and tools which will make your life easier if you have them all before you start.

  • Craft Knife. I would highly recommend getting an X-acto knife with a few spare blades. These are by far the best ones I have come across for reborning, although the choice is yours. Get one your are comfortable with and be sure to leave it locked away if you have children

Making Reborn Dolls: Preparation

Some things you will need

When you get the doll you will be reborning, the most suitable ones are the LaBaby dolls (20 inch) or a Berenguer doll (Leonor for example) – these are especially ideal as they can be picked up quite cheaply and so are excellent to practice on.

If you have problems, I would suggest starting with any closed eye doll that is a soft vinyl. Closed eyed reborns are easier to get a good end result. The Leonor doll mentioned above is an excellent example of this and I would highly suggest starting with this one.
